At Southmont

 

The Mustangs started off the year against an improved Southmont team on the road. The mustangs started off strong with an opening drive touchdown but then found them selves in a fight. The mustangs were lead by Wade Bentley who threw for 79 yards and rushed for 100 more. The defense was lead by Jake VanCleave who picked off the Southmont quarterback 3 times and returned on for a TD. The Mustangs came up just short in a tough battle with a final score of 20-21.

Turkey Run

 

The Mustangs rebounded this week with a good showing. The Mustangs threw for 379 yards and 7 TDs against Turkey Run. The receivers were lead by Tyler Starkey who had 5 catches for 160 yards and 3 TDs. The trio of Barrett, Ellis, and Brandon Howell helped the Mustangs rush for 190 yards in a game that ended with a final score of 54-6.

Riverton Park

 

The Mustangs hosted Riverton Park in a Friday showdown that ran over to the next day. Lightning never let either team take the field Friday night and the game was pushed back to Saturday morning. When the game was finally kicked off it was the Mustangs who controlled the game from start to finish. The Mustangs rushed for 263 yards and passed for 79 on the day. Great efforts were seen all over the field. The Mustangs finished the game 63-0 to earn their second victory of the season.
