Thursday, August 20
FC Volleyball had a strong first start with a 25-14, 25-12, 27-25 win over Delphi. It was a great team effort with solid hitting from all of our hitters. Macee Williams led with 22 kills and 7 blocks. Maggie Fishero added 10 kills and 26 digs. Jenna Royer had 12 kills and Morgan Edwards finished with 27 assists. The JV team also beat Delphi in 3 games. Lady Mustangs play again on August 25 against Seeger.
Tuesday, August 25
Fountain Central lost in a tough 5 set loss against Seeger 25-11, 25-21, 21-25, 21-25, and 12-15. Jenna Royer had 11 kills and Macee Williams had 20. The had a strong first two sets, but couldn't pull through in the end. JV also lost in the tight 3 set match. The varsity team has a tourney at Lebanon on Saturday.
Saturday, August 29
Lebanon Tourney
Fountain Central placed 2nd in the Lebanon Tourney on Saturday. They lost to a very strong Lebanon team and then defeated Cascade and Bethesda Christian. Against Cascade, the Mustangs rallied back in set 3 from an 11-14 deficit in the 3rd set to win 16-14. Williams had 19 kills. Fishero was 18/18 serving, had 9 kills, and 19 digs. Fountain Central beat Bethesda in 2 sets with strong passing and hitting from all players. Fountain Central has its next match Tuesday at Rockville
Thursday, September 3
The volleyball team defeated South Vermillion in 3 sets 25-13, 25-15, 25-18. The Mustangs were led in kills by Williams (18) and Royer (9) and in digs by Williams (20) and Butts (18). Taryn Depugh had 6 aces for the night. Fountain Central's record improves to 5-3. The junior varsity lost in 2 sets. The team plays North Montgomery on September 8th at Fountain Central.
Tuesday, September 8
Fountain Central volleyball lost to North Montgomery in 3 sets. Led by Williams and Fishero, the mustangs played a strong offensive game but struggled to defend against the consistent hitting. Williams had 17 kills and 3 blocks. Fishero had 8 kills, 3 blocks, and 28 digs. The junior varsity lost in 2 sets. Fountain Central plays at Southmont on Thursday.
Junior High Volleyball
September 8
Riverton Parke
7th grade lost in three sets (21-25, 25-21, and 13-15).
Took a bit to shake off first set jitters, but came roaring back into the game behind the serves of Stella, Morgan, and Audrey. Overall, an impressive first outing. Just wish we could have had that first set back to do over again.
8th grade lost in two sets (12-25 and 22-25)
Once again first set jitters took awhile to overcome against a team that has already played many sets against opponents. However, when they started playing solid volleyball it was a little too late to force a third set. Early on in the season it looks like setting and passing are a strength for this 8th grade group.
September 10
Fountain Central defeated Southmont in 5 games with a strong come back in the fifth set. It was a great team effort with all players making major contributions. It was a strong hitting night with all juniors reaching double digits. Williams had 23 kills, 8 blocks, and 33 digs. Fishero had 10 kills, 2 blocks, and 18 digs. Royer had 11 kills and was 25/26 serves. Morgan Edwards had a solid night with 19 assists and 34 digs. The junior varsity lost in 3 sets. Fountain Central plays in a varsity tourney at Rossville on Saturday.
